New version released (v2.0.0) with many new features and performance updates.

Is anyone aware of a sensor (preferably Zigbee, I think), that will give me an idea of when I need to change my furnace air filter?

I am picturing something that maybe sits on the "clean" side of the filter to measure...pressure? Air quality? I don't know.

Anyone try to build a bed occupancy sensor integrated with Home Assistant? I've looked into load sensors but all of them seem to have pretty small weight limits (low enough to where I don't think it would even support the empty bed).

What devices/sensors have you used for this? And what does your setup look like?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently setting up my Home Assistant Green and so far most things work fine - I've been able to migrate all my Zigbee accessories over and also managed to get Matter/Thread working using the Connect ZBT-1.

There is one accessory that I just can't get to work though and that's my Eve Motion blinds window cover. Pairing them via Thread worked perfectly fine and basic diagnostics seem to work too, however I'm unable to control it in any meaningful way like opening or closing the blinds. The respective actions just aren't available. Some basic functions like identifying the device work though. When I used them in my old Home Kit Home (also via Matter/Thread) with my Home Pod as my Thread border router they worked without any issues. This leads me to believe there might be some sort of misconfiguration I don't fully understand and that the device interview function is unable to fix on its own.

Did anybody manage to integrate them into their home yet or has any other suggestions on what to do?

Anyone else finding their z2m mesh is going slow? Can’t work out the cause, wondering if it is related to recent patch.

Might just be me but I feel if something has been requested for 5 years it might be time to look into it. I love home assistant and I am in no way a programmer. (then I'd just do it myself for the community). The ability to connect and use voice asistant with the Android TV os would be great though.

I'm wondering what people here would think about Home Assistant's stock UI getting a bit of a facelift? I know you can customize to your hearts content, but I've always found stock Home Assistant to be a little hard on the eyes. Its not bad in my mind, just feels a bit dated and static.

Anyhow, wondered if anyone here has thought the same. I'd welcome a face lift.

I'm trying to remove the Hue bridge from my home network but can't seem to get Home Assistant to find the bulbs over Zigbee. Even the Hue app can't find them unless I use the "use serial number" method.

• I deleted the lights from the Hue app
• I factory reset the lights (using dimmer switch method)
• I clicked "add device" in home assistant... aaand nothing. Just "Searching for Zigbee devices…"

I thought the problem might be wifi interference but I turned off my 2.4ghz network and still nothing.

I have other Zigbee devices successfully connected to my dongle, (Sonoff) and I can pair the bulbs with Hue bridge, but only using the serial number method.

Any ideas as to what might be going on?

Update: To any future readers, I set up Zigbee2Mqtt and everything works really great now and pairing was a breeze.

This should be of interest to anyone using ESP32 devices currently and is seeing the influx of the RISC-V ISA devices coming up.

Hopefully the future of IOT might include device drivers that can't suborn devices like the ones for the ESP32 can, by compartmentalizing memory space on the device, and auditing the compilation of such drivers.

The ubiquitous ESP32 microchip made by Chinese manufacturer Espressif and used by over 1 billion units as of 2023 contains an undocumented "backdoor" that could be leveraged for attacks.

The undocumented commands allow spoofing of trusted devices, unauthorized data access, pivoting to other devices on the network, and potentially establishing long-term persistence.

This was discovered by Spanish researchers Miguel Tarascó Acuña and Antonio Vázquez Blanco of Tarlogic Security, who presented their findings yesterday at RootedCON in Madrid.

I just ordered the Voice PE to play around with, and I was wondering if it's possible to run the processing of Speech on a different device. I have a HA Green that runs my instance and I'm guessing the processing power is a bit low. However, I also have a small homelab server running that has a lot more power (Ryzen 5 2600) and it would be great if I could just forward all the speech processing to that server.

If it's possible, is there a guide for it out there? Didn't really find something unfortunately...

Wanted to share this around see if I'm the only person with the issue. I make a query to my wyoming satelite instance "what is the temperature outside" and it says it cannot find any device labelled temperature in the outside area. I do the same query on my watch using the assist and no issues. I understood that they were in the same eco system. Have I missed something?

Trying to upgrade from a 2021 release to the latest one, absolutely no idea whether this will work or not...

Originally I abandoned this install because the API I used to integrate a DIY addressable LED strip (controlled by a media player entity, changed colour to match the cover art) was removed and replaced with something else, and I didn't have time to redevelop it.

For a while its been possible to do something pretty similar with WLED - at that point I was just putting off the upgrades to not break anything 😅

At this point it's probably a better idea to re-install but let's see how this goes!

Im currently planning on migrating my smart home to Home Assistant and run the HA docker image on my home server.

Most of my devices communicate via Zigbee so I was thinking of getting the Connect ZBT-1.
I also have a few Matter/Thread devices which would be nice to integrate as well, although not necessarily in the initial migration.

I read the ZBT-1 can experimentally be used with Thread as well. Now my question is: Is it possible to buy two devices and connect to Zigbee and Thread devices simultaneously?

Maybe someone has a similar setup and would like to share their experience.

I've been looking for a zigbee temperature sensor that has a long (1-2m) probe. I can find general room temperature zigbee sensors, and WiFi devices with probes, but not what I'm looking for. Searching online just comes up with people saying I'd need to make make soemthing myself with esphome.

I'm not opposed to getting into esp at some point when I've got some free time, but I'd like something quick and easy I could just buy and have working easily. Anyone know of anything suitable?

I did not find where DOODS2 or any other add on stores any info, but I did discover that you can simply create a directory in the /share/ and point to it. I created /share/doods/ and added my .onnx model and got it to work. The model needs work, but I believe it is actually my model now.

I recently installed DOODS2 for doing some image analysis stuff using my cameras. And a friend and I are working on a custom model based on YOLO, but using my collected training data. The model is trained, and it works pretty damn well when you just send images at it. So I want to deploy it in DOODS2. The documentation is pretty good for what you have to do: just move your model into the 'models' directory inside DOODS, and add a stanza to the config.yaml...

problem arises when you can't find the damn 'models/' directory!!! All of the documentation is saying it should be somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere... come to think of it, I can't find where ANY of the add-ons are storing data. I guess this is the main argument for running HA as a docker, and all your add ons as individual docker containers. But I'm too deep in the weeds already with the supervisor install in Proxmox that I'm not looking to overhaul the whole system just to add a custom model to my image analysis!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't use the "docker" command to find the container, because HA claims docker doesn't exist. I'm feeling a bit lost.

Hi All. This might not be for everyone, and is very rough around the edges, but I have written a tool to more easily test how custom addressable RGB effects work.

Simply copy the code portion of the lamba into a text file, and then build and run, and it will output on your terminal how the effect will look.

It is very rough, you need a C compiler, and a RGB/TrueColor capable terminal.

I wanted some temperature sensor that can place outside my house, it is simple and not very expensive, which directly integrates with HA would be ideal but not 100% necessary.

Looking to steer into HA, but have some questions on how data is handled.

First, I don't mean the opt-in on the scant analytics. HA is very clear about that which is great. Awesome clear policy.

Second, I understand that "integrations", which use a device manufacturer's/services software/infrastructure, are outside scope here (although I do have some questions).

My goal is to find and work a system where no one knows when my lights are turning off and on, and is only on my hardware. IE: If the internet went down, but I was still connected to local wifi, can my HA still work?

The answer seems like a strong "yes", but I want to double check. I also want to make sure if I do use an integration that there's not an avenue for telemetry beyond that integration. IE: I don't want Spotify to gain access to what temperature I keep my house just because I want to play music.

I also have questions about the mobile app, but if the rest is truly locked down, I can navigate that.

I currently have an automated bog garden, but how I did it isn't really scalable. It's all modbus components with values passed to a local server to generate a dashboard. I'd like to expand to more actual "home" automation, and this seems like a great tool!

Are you interested in a Proton Drive backup location in Home Assistant's new built-in backup tool?

I see a lot of posts about people who like their Zigbee and Z-Wave products. As I'm setting up the hardware in my home, I'm using Wi-Fi products because I already have Wi-Fi. I don't see much difference in price. What is the actual benefit of setting up a separate network for home devices? Is there a reason that I should consider setting up one of these networks?
