Elon Musk was born in 1971 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and raised in a wealthy family under the country's racist apartheid laws. Musk's family history reveals ties to apartheid and neo-Nazi politics. We speak with Chris McGreal, reporter for The Guardian, to understand how Musk's upbringing shaped his worldview, as well as that of his South African-raised colleague Peter Thiel, a right-wing billionaire who co-founded PayPal alongside Musk. "Musk lived what can only be described as a neocolonial life," said McGreal. "If you were a white South African in that period and you had any money at all, you lived with servants at your beck and call."

Looks like Tesla’s profiting off government subsidies has finally hit a wall in Canada.

After Tesla requested reimbursement for an unprecedented 8,669 Canadian EV rebates in just three days, the Canadian government froze Tesla’s rebate payments and paused all future eligibility.

For those keeping score, Tesla claimed to sell 1.5 vehicles per minute, a huge spike that came after the company was alerted that the rebate fund would run out.

That means that $43 million in Tesla rebate payments are frozen and future subsidies paused. Read on for the full story!

I called a taxi earlier. And on a whim, because I've seen a lot of Tesla-driving cabbies lately, I told the dispatcher I didn't wish to ride in a Tesla car.

The guy said "Funny, you're like the fifth person who asks that this week..."

Sounds like I'm not the only one to have had this idea. I think I'll request this each and every time from now on: it seems like a good way to hurt Tesla indirectly on the cheap.

In February, buyer interest in new Teslas dropped to 1.8%, its lowest point since October 2022. The number of car shoppers interested in purchasing the cars had peaked in November 2024, at 3.3%.

"Brand loyalty is becoming a bigger question mark as factors such as Elon Musk's increasing public involvement in government, Tesla depreciation concerns and its increased saturation in major metro areas leave some longtime owners feeling disconnected from the brand," Edmunds' head of insights Jessica Caldwell said in a statement to CBS MoneyWatch.

"On the side, Mr. Davis pursued an economics doctorate and opened Mr. Yogato, a frozen yogurt shop that offered discounts to customers who answered trivia questions. He joined the board of the Atlas Society, a nonprofit dedicated to the teachings of the libertarian author Ayn Rand."

I just... this cannot be a real human. If Elon is surrounded by people like this, no wonder he believes everyone is a NPC.
