https://github.com/positive-intentions/chat

A webapp for P2P E2EE messaging and file transfer. its a fairly unique approach to secure messaging.

the project isnt ready to replace any existing apps or services, but given the competative market for this kind of project, id like to push it out to get feedback.

i made an attempt to create documentation on the website, but otherwise feel free to reach out with questions about how it works.

Note: this project has NOT been audited. It, along with it's source code are provided for testing and demo purposes.

I've been working on building a local music library, I settled on using AIMP as my player of choice because windows media player kinda sucks. However, I'd really like to use something open source if there's any good ones out there. There are some features of AIMP that I'd love to keep, (last.fm scrobbling and podcast subscribing for the most part) but I'm willing to part with them, or even using more than one program instead of having them rolled into one. I've tried a couple alternatives but I wanna know what the community has to recommend!

Hey folks, I’m looking for an open source alternative to Endel. Endel is a “soundscape” app that I use for focused beats and white noise.

I found some free alternatives, but didn’t find any open source options. Wondering if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hey all!

I just came across this a few minutes ago—looks amazing. It’s the only application of its kind I’ve seen that includes text-to-speech out of the box!

  • When a user requests to generate an email alias, a popup would appear (similar to "Sign In With Apple") prompting the user to sign in with Privacy Portal in order to authorize generating and filling the email alias.
  • As mentioned in the library's Github page, an account is required in order for Privacy Portal to be able to forward emails to your personal email address.
  • Privacy Portal has a transparent and fair business model that allows small creators and businesses to use our services free of charge under a certain usage threshold.
  • Privacy Portal is built for privacy and processes all emails in memory without writing them to disk. It does not store, collect, share, nor sell any user data. Privacy Policy
  • Users can sign up on Privacy Portal with an anonymous email address for even more privacy.
  • Email Aliases generated for a particular website can only relay emails authorized by said website and are unusable by other third parties making it a perfect solution for eliminating spam, and email sharing accross websites.

HI!

Not long ago i discovered programm called Rattlegram, wich allows to transmit text messages over Radio https://github.com/aicodix/rattlegram

Now, i wonder, if there any ways to use it from laptop too? GUI (!) Desktop version for Win\Lin\Mac ?

The developer said : "@bastibl rewrote the C++ Rattlegram modem in Rust and added it to FutureSDR: https://github.com/FutureSDR/FutureSDR https://github.com/FutureSDR/FutureSDR/tree/main/examples/rattlegram "

But yet, i miss and lost what steps to be done to make it installed?

Thanks

Releasing on schedule again! Improved signs, item frames and maps will let you put whatever you need on display, mob spawning and structure generation should work better than before, multiple optimizations and reworks should make the experience smoother than ever, and you can behold the new textures and enjoy the improved sound effects by sitting or laying on the ground! And there's more.

I like notion a lot, especially for its databases function, it's much more powerful than stuff like excel, but being proprietary I'm scared of the buyers lock in / notion disallowing exports in the future and all the cons that come from using a proprietary software. Also managing integrations is probably harder than with an app that you own I think..

Is database in notion just a normal database like mysql? How easy/intuitive would be making the switch? Is it worth it?

We would use it for a very small organization, mostly for registering invoices, documents, lists of contacts with several informations.

I need to query results and to sort / filter database as I want, there's also the idea of trying integrating it with a website in the future maybe..

I like how practical notion is, but I don't like that it's proprietary and notion could potentially modify its terms of use whenever it wants.

Is there a community/site that organises and lists open source projects?

I want to get into working on open source projects but I have found it difficult to find the projects themselves.

I'd preferably like to be able to filter by project type, tech stack, state of development, active users, and active developers.

Is this an open source project in itself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a community-based website and I'd like to add a text and video-chat feature to it. I'd like it to be text-first and video second, so you don't have to be streaming to be in the room and for the main part, to be text. Everything I find is video-only. I can host the video streaming data myself.

Support for FIDO2 (WebAuthn) two-step login on macOS is added with release v2025.2.1. This means you will be able to use a security key (e.g. Yubikey) as a second factor to protect your login.

It is now supported on:

  • Desktop: Windows, MacOs
  • Browser extensions: all FIDO2 supported Browsers
  • Mobile apps: Android and iOS 13.3+

Is there some project that the opensource world is missing that you think it needs?

Thought this was interesting and worth knowing about

Update was from 3 days ago, I'm really hopeful ladybird could be a future browser option to help break the stranglehold chrome has over the market, while Mozilla is struggling to find meaningful direction.

It seems like an exciting project with monthly progress updates :) they keep chipping away at compatibility.

Looking for your personal lists of Github repositories, which might be deleted from Github at some point, for whatever reason. For example, the maintainer might delete his account from Github or archive all his repositories.

A famous example of an open source project, which had trouble to continue thriving, is youtube-dl.

Which projects' repositories do you think are worth backing up?

👉 The process is off the target and has large variation. Variation always creates costs.
👉 The point outside the limits is evidence that assignable causes with dominant effects are present and the process will behave UNPREDICTABLY.

I've seen many threads suggesting products but they often don't mention FOSS projects, which should always be preferred to corporate software. With FOSS you are already boycotting capitalism, on either side. Free and Open Source ignores borders and shouldn't be categorized in nationalist terms, no matter where some of the maintainers happen to live.
