Bungie have previously stated that the reason they won't put Destiny on Linux (and by extension Steam Deck) is because of their limited developer availability and because it increases the risk of cheaters.
Those were their biggest reasons for not allowing a Linux version to exist or to at least allow Linux distros through the anti-cheat.
Now in fairness to them, the Linux population is small only equating to roughly 3% from the last Steam audit so I can imagine the number of those that play Destiny specifically is probably significantly less. However, from Bungie's standpoint they wouldn't even have to do much these days.
Enable the support for Linux in Battleye and then let Proton / WINE do the rest of the heavy lifting.
We wouldn't even need a native port of the game at that point and it would allow you to truly play Destiny while mobile.
Because we know player retention metrics are king, it would benefit the player base being able to play Destiny from literally anywhere.
I would happily take the couple of FPS hit if it meant I could move away from from Windows.
