  3. Not regarding using or support for Lemmy: context, see the list of support communities and tools for finding communities below
  4. Not ad nauseam inducing: please make sure it is a question that would be new to most members

There's been an influx of content surrounding lemmy here. Some of it is open ended:

  • "What kinds of things from reddit would you like to see Lemmy avoid as the user base grows?"
  • "Lemmy, what do you call users of Lemmy?"

And these are a-ok! There's also been a lot of questions like

  • "How do I block a user?"
  • "How do I join a community on a different instance"

These aren't open ended (at least, relatively). They are objective based, and just need a resolution, rather than discussion. These sort of questions are more relevant to [email protected].

I know there's also questions like "What are you guys doing when there’s multiple communities for the same thing across instances?". I'm inclined to let those stay, there is lots of opportunity for discussion. It's a game of discretion from a moderation perspective, but I assume most can easily guess what is cold hard support.

At least from me, moderation of support posts has been sporadic at best, despite the long standing rule. I will begin redirecting these questions to [email protected], however I'm of course willing to listen to the community here if that's not what is wanted, as well as other feedback.

edit: support posts will now be removed, not locked

Whether it's a project you're working on, plans you have this weekend, an event you're going to, etc. What's something that's got you excited?

I'm a nurse thinking about expanding my job options and knowledge, maybe studying something. I don't want to work bedside till I'm old enough to cash in my 401k because then I'll have a broken back and I don't want to become one of those old angry nurses constantly on edge because she's angry at life.

To me, the way to achieve this is to learn a lot of things systematically: medicines (not the brand names, but the active components, because doctors where I work use components extensively), diagnoses that are often abbreviated, right anatomical names for bones, muscles and blood vessels..., right ranges for arterial and venous blood gas parameters and clinical chemistry...

It's tedious and repetitive and I don't want to take any drugs to study better, but I believe it fits me because I was always an introverted bookworm.

Is there any better way to learn this than the way I just described? It means 3 hours of reading and repeating concepts and ranges after my shift.

For me it was the kid next door screaming at her mum. Went soft as a wet noodle.

Piefedi, lemmy, fediverse? I want to share them as reddit alternatives but their naming is super cringe. Did people find Reddit’s naming choice poor in the beginning?

I found that lots of neocons were Trotskyites in the past, such as James Burnham.

Title. I’m fairly confident it has not helped my gums be less sensitive in any regard.

Every drop of water, crack, ant, royally freaks me out at this point. I can't afford to rent. I own a shitty house that is a fixer upper. So frustrating.

my (genderfluid, 19) partner (19f/19nb) is so beautiful, i swear.

she has this quiet snoring when we sleep at each other’s houses (think a cat purring sound/a deep sigh through the nose).

she literally looks like sleeping beauty, even if she snores, and she (usually lies on her back and) faces me when she sleeps.

their hair is long and they wear a nightgown so it kind of adds to the royalty look

I got baited into posting a picture of a child eating Popcorn on Discord, not knowing it was associated with CSAM. The account got banned, but I dont care about it but more about the legal consequences. Has anyone heard of legal action against people posting it?

I used to swear a lot. I decided to not swear at all (except for possibly mild swears), instead replacing most swears with minced oaths.

My family is Christian and I would get yelled at for swearing even if it just slipped out. So far, I don’t swear unless I’m feeling a strong emotion or acting impulsively, but I’ll usually say things like “F/eff” or “fudge” instead of the F-word.

I like to be “creative”, so my go-tos are usually “Go fudge yourself”, or “What the cluck?”

I might say “mother lover” instead of MF

If I wanted to chill like a villain in Mordor, what music would help with that?

All I can think of is like fiery places like Fire Temple from Ocarina of Time lmao

Please only chill stuff and yes I know Mordor is practically antithetical to chill, make it work haha

If I were to, hypothetically, want to weld my asshole shut, how should I go about doing this? Is it even possible? What might be the repercussions of doing this?

For context, I have zero experience in welding and the human anatomy so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any good examples that I know of, but I am very curious. To me though, a rivalry is a rivalry when two or more of people are closely competitive. But is it really a rivalry anymore when someone has more victories over the other? I don't think so.

This is a continuation and spinning off of my previous post on natural ambient phenomena and also executive/desk toys, but the focus here is on manmade things that provide a repetitive yet dynamic and "ambient" scene thru the performance of whatever they are both contrived to and naturally do
