The average age on the council now a ripe young age of 52. Something tells me these people don’t actually care to understand why younger generations are leaving.

I support this initiative but having decrepit lawmakers decide what to invest in for the future seems like a joke.

  • In a settlement announced Wednesday, DTE Energy has agreed to stop using coal-fired power by 2032
  • That’s three years earlier than previously planned
  • It still doesn’t align with a state goal to ditch coal by 2030.

Essentially - If you want to be called anything but him or her, go to a pet groomer...

I don't feel this way about Ohio but it seems everyone else in MI does

We're not allowed to touch our phone more than 1 tap when we're driving in Michigan.

I just got off of a 3 hour drive and realized I probably broke the law 10 times. I hate voice commands. Does anyone have a strategy for not being a total criminal while also staying entertained and/or productive during long communtes and trips?

The money will pay for last-mile energy delivery to low-income residents and efforts to lessen the risk of severe weather damaging the power grid.

The state’s recently agreed-upon education budget for the new school year contains money for teacher recruitment, rural districts, Detroit schools, transportation, building upgrades and other items long sought by administrators.

Our tax dollars at work.

On one hand, I get it. Michigan is falling behind in some areas, and attracting the next type of business is all the more important since we can't just rely on auto manufacturers to keep us afloat.

But on the other hand, am I the only one irritated that my tax dollars are basically being handed out to the rich so that they can exploit/ruin more of our natural resources? I'd love to see more of this money going to small startups and less to China-backed billion-dollar companies pitting states against each other in a race to the bottom.

  • 56 percent of Michigan teenagers had driver’s licenses in 2021, down from 66 percent in 2000
  • Reasons for the decline include being too busy to learn and high car ownership costs
  • Cuts in driver’s ed funding may be disproportionately impacting Black and low-income teens

A new law making it illegal to hold or use a cellphone while driving in Michigan officially went into effect this week, and there are a list of reasons drivers can be pulled over, with some exceptions.

Seems like some very reasonable concerns. Steep price for what amounts to jobs that have an IMO barely livable wage.

Edit: adding more than just that short blurb

Michigan Unclaimed Property (unclaimedproperty.michigan.gov)

Do yourself a favor and check to see if you left money anywhere. AAA prorated my rate when I changed car insurances, I completely missed it at the time. Years later, I check the unclaimed and there it is. If a company has money they owe you, but they can't find you, they turn it over to the State to hold in your name.

Being hosted by michigan.gov gave me peace of mind, but the search is totally non-invasive. I recommend searching your first and last name before filling in the city/zip. I found my name doing a last name search, but as soon as I put the same city in as on the record, it vanished. ymmv
