This is especially hilarious when you know how hilariously inept the Nazi intelligence system worked. There was like five different agencies working on seven different cross purposes as each subunit tried to impress Hitler at the expense of the others.

British Intelligence led them around by the nose for most of the war. Operation Mincemeat being particularly fantastic. Nazi intel not only bought the whole ruse, but they also second guessed reliable info from then on. The British hogtied them up and slapped them in the ass on a daily basis. Some of the best real life competence porn you'll find.

Not who you replied to and I don't remember if they covered this specifically but the podcast Behind the Bastards has covered a lot of the workings of the Nazi party.
