TLD is one of my favourites but the way they have handled the story episodes isn't great. It's all long overdue and they release extra dlc before finishing it off which is kind of bullshit.
Thankfully survival mode is infinitely more fun anyway but I do hope they stop updating the game (from May with the planned graphical updates due) before it loses it uniqueness.
Also it's on sale right now on Steam for ridiculously cheap so I really recommend you buy it. Like I said, even with some small issue the game is a favourite and well worth even full price.
How grindy is the story mode? Is it like The Forest where you can go through the entire thing in ~10 hours without building a base or more like Subnautica where a base is necessary and it takes like 30 hours to complete?
It’s episodic and each episode is its own self-contained thing. You don’t build bases, but find shelter and your gear changes for each episode. You’ll still need to scavenge and craft, but it’s not
I see. I guess it's kind of like The Forest. The type of survival game I might enjoy.
