I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time? I swear I've seen this headline year(s) ago.
I wouldn't be surprised. Even though it's one of EA's main cash cows pretty much every Sims game and expansion is held together with the programming equivalent of ducktape and bailing wire.

I probably didn't notice because I never bought Sims 4. I couldn't bring myself to give up the pseudo open world of Sims 3.
