Hey dog nerds / makers. I was surprised to find there isn't a commercial option out there for detecting when a dog is doing a dump. For my pup at least an acellerometer that shows he is motionless and at an angle between standing and sitting should be a pretty good predictor of pooing behavior. I saw some blogs about a guy building something like this in 2014 but nothing further. An old smartwatch seems like a good place to start with this. Any suggestions for an app or way to script this on a galaxy watch? I'm not a coder, but curious to hear some thoughts on this.

I might regret asking this, but...

why???

Health reasons maybe

I know I had to track my dumps after a colonoscopy for a while to make sure that everything was fine since a minor complication occured

How is this better than going with your dog while they’re outside or watching them on a camera? Are you planning some kind of geotagging so you don’t miss a soft landmine?

As a lifelong owner of numerous dogs I'm wondering what use could I make of information provided by this sensor.

Hmm. Sell data to Google perhaps. Profit?

Wouldn’t it be easier to tie a bell to his/her tail so the grogan gives it a tap on the way to the ground.. 🤔

Better for the environment at least 😜

If you take them for walks, they'll poop.

A crate, a dog diaper and a strict schedule are the best tools for house training with the latter being the best and most important.
