Why not? It's not like they could learn any valuable secrets that could help the competition.
Gardening leave is so they can't take secrets with them and when you have people ready to take up those positions. I dont think anyone wants any Alpine secrets and I doubt they have anyone better lines up to fill their places. They probably have 3 month notice periods.
Don't get the derisive tone of the article, this is arguably good news considering how dysfunctional the technical department has been at Enstone. De Beer was absolute deadwood and Matt Harman wasn't suited for the technical director promotion. Maybe Alpine will actually learn and stop hiring second-rate people at the helm.
