Reminds me of the time when I believed in communism. I even have a mug left.

Ref It's a pity to throw it away, despite the fact that it is of poor quality. Maybe someday it will fall apart on its own.

a little bit about ideas

Although I can't say that the ideas of communism are wrong. Free (Libre) Open Source Software is a good example of this (to some extent). Rust may also have leftist roots, judging by how its community promotes it to the masses (just joking, cool lang indeed).

I don't think this can be attributed to politics, but just in case, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings or views. I didn't mean to, really.

What hasn't already been said about Frieren at this point. Long before an anime adaptation had been announced, I was a huge fan of the manga. I was worried that it wouldn't translate to the anime medium very well due to the slower pace and less intense action compared to many other shounen. Well, I shouldn't have worried at all. They pulled out all the stops in the adaptation and juiced up the action sequences through gorgeous visuals and a fantastic OST.

Season 2 has been announced, but given the production schedules of the teams involved, it will likely be quite some time until it gets worked on or comes out. Even if I have to wait 10 years for it, I am happy to give it the time they need to create magic like they did in season 1. It will be a mere 10-year adventure in the meantime.

Edit: Just wanted to include a mention of !frieren@ani.social as well.

I don't watch this show, but the video was really neat, incorporating heavy use of miniature models and stop motion.

Inspired by u/lonelyguy584 video.

Not so long ago, I went to a concert of the only band that I listen to (of those that are alive) and noticed that they have a song similar to the one that I heard in a video on reddit. I wanted to change the soundtracks and see what happens. In the end, I decided to make my own similar video. The result is not that it would be some kind of super-cool, but there is quite a lot of time for such a simple thing, I can't even imagine how the real creators make real AMVs for a few minutes.

Irrelevant to the post

I hope you won't be offended that I'm posting all sorts of stuff, there's already a relatively lot of it. I really don't want to repeat the fate of r/amv and r/Animeedits.

By the way, I think I've started to understand why these subreddits are so empty. Perhaps the main reason is that reddit and lemmy obviously are not such convenient platforms for watching videos as YouTube and perhaps Twitter (Blue Sky, misskey.io). The videos here are more like the cherry on the cake (or should be like this). And the audience here is still a little different.

Recently, I've had a little problem with lemmy: all (embedded) videos are hidden in the body (description) of the post, and not as before, as images, just click to play. Reminds me this issue. Is it the same for everyone?

A little earlier ufter browser update, the site itself stopped loading via firefox (Mull) without a vpn or proxy. With google chrome (Cromite) everything is almost fine but all videos are loading too slowly and with no sound. Think I will ask lemmy support later if nothing get fixed.

Dan Da Dan has really been the standout show from this season. I find it an almost impossible task to try to explain the premise of the show though. It's weird, it's funny, it's exciting, it's tragic, and so many other things. The series somehow blends so many different things into one chaotic stew and it all somehow works. Add the fantastic animation and OST on top of that and it has been a ton of fun this season.

Also, make sure to check out !dandadan@ani.social for show discussion as well as !dandadumber@ani.social for source manga discussion.

I understand that this show might not be everybody's cup of tea. It constantly was featuring a main character that is very clearly aimed at shota lovers after all. However, I wanted to highlight this show for a different reason; the animation.

This show was made by a very new studio, Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab. As a new studio, they were able to experiment with different ways to produce a series instead of having already established production lines in place. The key thing they do differently is they make heavy use of Unreal Engine throughout the process. This also streamlined things so that they could keep the same creative team working on every episode together rather than separate teams working on different episodes in parallel.

The end product came out looking really good, better than I would have expected from a very young studio like this. The main selling point of the manga is the phenomenal art, so translating that into anime was a risky endeavor for a young studio, but it ended up working out great.
