If sugar skulls ain't your thang...

That's right! Everybody's favorite four-letter word writ large on the silver screen at the gorgeous Detroit Film Theatre...CATS!

Why stay at home watching hilarious and lovable cat videos on your cellphone when you can bask in the grandeur of the "domesticated" felines 100 larger? You say you don't like cats? After this, you'll adopt ten and become a crazy cat ~~lady~~ person! Or maybe not.

Two shows Saturday, Oct. 28 (today, Sylvester!) and Sunday, Oct 29 (tomorrow, Fifi!), coinciding with National Cat Day (who knew?)

From the linked article...

A Detroit woman is suing the city and a police detective after she was falsely arrested because of facial recognition technology while she was eight months pregnant, according to court documents.

Porcha Woodruff, 32, was getting her two children ready for school on the morning of Feb. 16 when six police officers showed up at her doorstep and presented her with an arrest warrant alleging robbery and carjacking.

Very impressive historical timeline of the Woodbridge neighborhood near Midtown and Corktown. Interesting to see the stages of growth, decline, and urban renewal from the neighborhood inception to modern day.

Yes, you read that wrong :-)

Normally if I'm out, I'm either at one of the casinos, or a rock/metal/alt show at a bar, but every now and then, such as when wanting a 'classy' spot to take a date :-) i'd like to find some old school class, with some horns. Trumpets, saxes, trombones, and so on.

Someone today suggested Cliff Bell's, downtown, to me. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

The annual increases are usually minimal, said Julie Schneider, so the 12 percent jump was higher than expected. Todd Bettison acknowledged Tuesday that the initial batch of [10] scanners won’t be enough and that the department is seeking grants to secure an additional 10 scanners. SEIU officials say currently, janitors working in downtown Detroit buildings are being “forced to raise their families on hourly wages ranging between $11.25 and $15.30.” […] The calls for better wages comes as Detroit, especially downtown, sees a resurgence, fueled by new developments and building restorations.
