I obviously can’t say for certain that Rodgers would have led the Jets to the “promised land.” But I have to imagine we’d be looking better than this…

Lost in the shuffle of the Aaron Rodgers injury — and the New York Jets' thrilling overtime win — was the performance of Jordan Whitehead in Week 1. Normally three interception games don't get ignored, but Whitehead's performance went under the radar.

The veteran safety notched a career-high three interceptions in the Jets' 22-16 win over the Buffalo Bills, kicking in a $250,000 incentive in his contract. Whitehead needed three interceptions in 2023 to earn the $250,000 incentive, and he accomplished that feat in Week 1.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers' 2023 season is over before it ever really got started. After the quarterback was injured on his fourth play of the Jets' opening game, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters that they feared that the four-time NFL MVP tore his Achilles tendon. That is what was ultimately discovered following an MRI on Tuesday.

The injury will be season-ending. On the Jets' first drive Monday night, Rodgers was injured and helped off the field by trainers. After a visit to the blue medical tent, he was carted to the locker room. After initially being labeled as questionable to return with an ankle injury, he was later downgraded to out. The Jets announced that his X-rays were negative.

But at what cost?

Amazing play by the defense. Awesome punt return to seal it in overtime. But man was I excited for some decent QB play…

Dalvin Cook is arriving soon and Breece Hall is practicing again after a long layoff, creating a first-class problem for the backfield-heavy New York Jets.

“There's only one football," offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett said Tuesday. "You always want everybody to want the ball at all times, and I think we have a lot of people that want the ball and deserve the ball."

Less than 24 hours after agreeing to terms with Cook, the Jets welcomed back Hall, who was activated from the physically unable to perform list. Their 2022 leading rusher, 10 months removed from ACL surgery, didn't do much in his first practice — just light individual drills. The Jets are "very confident" he will be ready for Week 1, though, according to coach Robert Saleh.

And, per @EliasSports, the Jets are the first team in NFL history to add a QB and RB in the same offseason after both reached the Pro Bowl in 4 of the previous 5 seasons.

I know it’s only preseason, but ZWilson looks like he’s not completely lost out there. That’s a step in the right direction!
