Basically title, this thing with two editions of the game slows down development because they now have to write the same thing twice and it splits the userbase. They also don't want to make Bedrock edition for Linux for some reason.

It would be best to go to the site itself to see the changes, but here is a snipper:

What is Vibrant Visuals?

Vibrant Visuals is a visual graphics upgrade that will transform the way players experience Minecraft. Initially releasing for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, it is our developer’s vision for what Minecraft looks like with improved visual elements such as directional lighting, volumetric fog, and more. The result is dazzling – shadows move as the sun arcs across the sky, water reflects the landscape around it, and clouds appear infinite as they stretch far into the distance.

Vibrant Visuals brings thousands of individually crafted elements while preserving what makes Minecraft unique. Chief Creative Officer Jens Bergensten describes it as “a new look that still stays true to our creative principles”, as biomes and builds come to life with the addition of a range of graphical enhancements. But what you will notice the most is the interplay of light and shadow.

Improvements including volumetric lighting mean you’ll be able to watch the sun’s rays carve across the Overworld, and every block will cast its own shadow. Light will shine through your windows, and you’ll be able to see reflections in water and on the surface of metallic blocks, while subsurface scattering brings a gentle glow to leaves and grass. “Water is one of my favorite improvements,” said Game Art Director Jasper Boerstra. “It looks absolutely amazing.”

Mobs and items will also have more of a glow – spider’s eyes will be even more menacing in the dark, and torches will cast a radiant path back to your build. You can see this in action in the deep dark, too. “The sculk is now more emissive, more immersive, and it creates a really magical scene,” adds Jasper Boerstra.

As a cosmetic update to the game, Vibrant Visuals graphics will not impact gameplay mechanics. This means that existing lighting mechanics such as when hostile mobs may or may not burn, crop growth, daylight detectors, mob farms, and more will all still work exactly as before. This also means that players on a Realm can all play together regardless of whether or not they are using Vibrant Visuals – as the gameplay of Minecraft remains the same. As Jasper Boerstra explained in the broadcast: “Vibrant Visuals is backwards compatible with old worlds, and it runs locally – so you can play together with friends who don’t have it activated.”

The changes are coming to Bedrock first, but are coming to Java as well at a later date.

They can be paid, just looking for some balanced weaponry that's not overpowered on Bedrock for a Realms server I have. Most of what I've found is either game breakingly powerful or end game ingredients.

Hi all!

I've already posted, that the account of my nephew got deleted on his main server and he is pretty devastated because of that.

As he only wants to build things with his friends, I'm starting to think about renting and setting up a VPS, as I'm still having a pretty much unused reserved domain lying around, which I could use for that.

Is that much work to get working (would be running on a Linux server) and is it time consuming to maintain?

And what should I expect hardware wise?
So what would the requirements be?

Maybe some background:
I'm a software developer for real-time Linux applications and I'm running my own business server with a VM as a Wireguard every point into my business network, and then some Docker containers for stuff I need.
I'm not that relaxed with server stuff like that, but I usually get it working and it does what I need.
So, I guess, I should be technically equipped enough to setup a Minecraft server.
But I don't have that much time on hand to really care for it, if it needs like weekly attention.
That's why I wanted to ask, what the timely expense/effort would be, so I could guarantee him and his friends with a stable virtual world.

Thank you all again advance!
The last answers here were really helpful and so I'm really grateful to such a nice community!

Hi all!

So, I gave my old work laptop too my nephew, who loves to play Minecraft.

I set it up with Linux and everything was running perfectly fine.
But now he came to me and said, that his account got deleted or/and all his things are gone.

Because of troubles in my personal life, I didn't had the time to look into it myself, but I just wanted to ask here, if there is maybe a known issue with playing on Linux, as I know, that some games block Linux, because of some anti cheats aren't working on Linux, as those anti cheats modules aren't allowed to run in kernel space, as they would like to.

I'd be really thankful for any help here, as my poor nephew is pretty devastated, because of all the time he spent building in the game and it seems, that everything is lost...

Thanks!

Edit: because the question came up: It's the standard Java edition

Hey everyone! I just got into using plugins on my Server and having a blast creating new content with ItemsAdder.

So I had the idea to host a little easter event for my players. I'm gonna hide a bunch of eggs all around our world and the players can then trade the eggs for fun items at a trading point. At the moment I have three ideas for items:

  • A chocolate bunny that gives you the jump boost potion effect
  • A placeable bunny plush
  • Wearable bunny ears

Do you have any cool ideas for some similar easter loot? Could be anything from food, to wearables or custom furniture.

Looking for a transfem discord or Minecraft server, one preferably does java with modded packs, as it's impossible for accessibility reasons to play vanilla Minecraft.

Anybody have any suggestions or places I could look into for them?
