FC Cincinnati have reached a milestone moment by winning the 2023 Supporters’ Shield, climbing from Major League Soccer’s basement to peak.

The Shield – awarded annually to the team with the most regular-season points – accentuates Cincy’s transformation under head coach Pat Noonan and general manager Chris Albright, an ex-Philadelphia Union duo now in their second full season in charge.

On the one hand, it could just be he's sore from losing. On the other hand, I agree that MLS needs to either reduce the number of games teams play or loosen the roster rules to allow more depth. At least, if they want MLS teams to perform consistently well in international matches.

Throughout all the competitions we’ve been in this year, for any teams that are going to this next year, I can tell you the rules and regulations of MLS roster are not ample enough and we are not equipped enough for all these competitions”, said Cherundolo to reporters after the final.

We have done an incredible job to stay in all comps very late but our guys are depleted”, he continued, “our stadium officer is tired, everyone is tired. Maybe it’s too many games or maybe we don’t have enough players and I think moving forward to create a competitive advantage for MLS, I think the owners and commissioners need to sit down and come up with solutions. The status quo does not work and I can tell you that is the opinion of other coaches as well.

Ticket prices for this Sunday’s match between Inter Miami and Los Angeles FC are the most expensive for a Major League Soccer game ever, according to TickPick, an online marketplace.

Average prices are around $690 — a 527% increase over the average ticket price of an MLS game, which used to cost $110 before soccer superstar Leo Messi joined the league.

The Power Rankings are voted on by 15 people (give or take) and the author would really like you to know the order is not entirely his fault. Although he may have shifted one team up one spot because, I dunno, when you blow a team out it just feels rude to be one spot below them the next week in the Power Rankings.

The 23-year-old joins the Premier League side for a fee worth €16million (£13.6m, $17.4m) plus €2m in add-ons.

New England didn’t want to lose their star goalkeeper as they push for a title this year, but the record fee plus Petrovic’s desire for the move got the deal done.

Petrovic has made 48 appearances in New England after signing in 2022 and quickly established himself after Matt Turner departed for Arsenal. He was voted second in MLS Goalkeeper of the Year last season, despite playing only 21 of 34 matches after joining midseason. He was named a 2023 MLS All-Star.
