The 1989 movie created a wonderful world, but the sequel (Batman Returns) was in some ways a reboot because it changed the tone so much. If you were to cut scenes or elements of the sequel to make it feel more like the original 1989 movie, what changes would you make? I'm working on a fan edit.

My own thoughts are to remove the more fantastical and slapstick elements by cutting down on screen time of Max Schreck and the Penguin (due to the Adam West style gags). I'm thinking of delaying the intro of the Penguin until the ballroom scene between Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle.

What would you do?
