Hello everyone!

As you can see, the MovieSuggestions on Lemmy is changing.

Before all, I want to thank you the community for every suggestion you made!

The previous mod of this community (Tuvan41) made me a mod, as so, I've made some changes:

  • There's a new picture for the community that doesn't copy the ~~other site~~ picture.
  • A new cover picture that reflects the spirit of cinema (used to be empty).
  • New guidelines for posting/interacting in this community.
  • Plan to make monthly community suggestions by genre.
  • Post titles are now mandatory, please read the guidelines for more information about these (I will post about this).
  • The sidebar changed with a new community description, new guidelines, new art and family communities for a more discoverable lemmy communities.
  • Every post made until now (the date of this post), will not be deleted even if they don't follow the new guidelines.

There's a lot of users in this community, and of course, I want to know your feedback or questions on this!

This post will also serve as a future updates for this community.

Is there a movie where the horror is completely hidden in the details without any revelation? A movie that is only horror to those who repeat-watch it, pay extra close attention or simply give in to their paranoid doubts?

His triumph changed the world forever.

In the early years of the 20th century, Mohandas K. Gandhi, a British-trained lawyer, forsakes all worldly possessions to take up the cause of Indian independence. Faced with armed resistance from the British government, Gandhi adopts a policy of 'passive resistance', endeavouring to win freedom for his people without resorting to bloodshed.

A pig's got to fly.

In Italy in the 1930s, sky pirates in biplanes terrorize wealthy cruise ships as they sail the Adriatic Sea. The only pilot brave enough to stop the scourge is the mysterious Porco Rosso, a former World War I flying ace who was somehow turned into a pig during the war. As he prepares to battle the pirate crew's American ace, Porco Rosso enlists the help of spunky girl mechanic Fio Piccolo and his longtime friend Madame Gina.

Not able to moderate as much as I used to given a jitney of real life issues that need my full attention, so I'm making a post to see if we can get some more active mods in here. If anyone wants to take over outright then lemme know and I can do a full community transfer as well.

I came across the japanese Kingdom movies and love all 4. I then tried to watch some American stuff like the nick cage movie about himself and operation fortune and some others and the sheer rudeness withwhich people interact with each other compared to Kingdom which I had just watched was too jarring and couldnt finish them. Anyway, I like: Raya and the Last Dragon, Mad Max Fury Road, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Speedracer Movie, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Uncharted, RRR. I like epic movies like RRR, but I can't stand olden times sex stereotype movies where all important characters are men. Unable to stand tintin for this reason. Oh and Dredd is a nice movie too. I love love love Dora's personality in Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Anyway, so what should I watch? I want no awkward scenes and characters to look up to; not down on while facepalming at their inappropriate behavior.

I’m looking for movies along the vibes of The Seventh Seal, Stalker, Raise the Red Lantern, The Passion of Joan of Arc.

Movies where the camera is a drill into the human soul somehow. Painful to watch, but enlightening.

I feel like this is low hanging fruit with the Lemmy community. I think this movie is so much fun. Such a nostalgia trip.

I would be curious how much gen alpha would enjoy it.
