Some of you might remember a post regarding Ben Azarya, CEO of a direct sales company that allegedly uses misleading hiring practices to generate revenue whilst avoiding payroll costs.
Here is the post in question: The Horridness of Wave Consulting and Ben Azarya
For some time after that post was made, we are assuming that the individual concerned was attempting to mass report the post in order to get it removed. They were, of course, unsuccessful. Today, however, we received a rather entertaining modmail that I thought I would take the liberty of posting here:
Dear Moderators,
I am reaching out to formally request the removal of the following post from your subreddit, as it contains highly defamatory, misleading, and harmful allegations targeting named individuals and a registered company:
🔗 Post Title: The horridness of Wave Consulting and Ben Azarya 🔗 Link: Reddit Post
This post contains:
Serious accusations including unethical sales tactics, harassment, and abuse — none of which have been substantiated.
Direct attacks on named individuals including the Managing Director and recruitment staff.
Use of inflammatory and harmful language describing the company as a “scam” and “pyramid scheme.”
Personal anecdotes presented as fact with potential to severely damage reputations and cause distress.
This post appears to violate Reddit’s Content Policy, particularly regarding:
Harassment and targeted abuse
Spreading false or misleading information
Doxxing and naming individuals for public ridicule
We respectfully request that you review this content for removal. This is not a legitimate review or critique — it is a targeted character attack.
We are willing to cooperate further or provide clarification as needed.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Naturally, I thought it only polite to send a reply:
Messrs. , Azarya;
Your application of the term "defamation" is improper and unlawful. Reddit, like any other social media, is a platform heavily dedicated to opinion. As far as we are able to examine, this post and all comments related thereto are of organic means, and are therefore appropriately representative of the opinion of the owners of said accounts. In contrast to a dedicated, funded, and professional campaign, the post and its related comments consist of the personal experiences of all persons concerned, and this is substantiated by a significant number of similar opinions posted on other websites, including forums, interpersonal social media, and news sources.
The use of the phraseology "personal anecdotes represented as fact" has no basis in UK law, since determination of opinion vs fact is largely context-relevant and generally easily proven the former. In no court would such a complaint be upheld, and in no court would a reddit post be considered factual, unless explicitly stated as such.
Finally, no "doxxing" has taken place. There is no expectation of privacy of personage on the internet, and so the use of an individual's name cannot be considered confidential information unless used in a form of targeted and unprovoked attack. Since this post does not meet that criteria, and is instead a public criticism of an employer, no expectation of privacy can be upheld.
No further correspondence will be entered into, and copies of this mail will be sent to other parties involved as well as posted publicly on the subreddit proper.
Best;

Hopefully I'm not too far off the mark with that interpretation, I'm no legal expert. Anyway, it's pointless them sending anything to us - my single-person business has far greater reach than they and I imagine Andy's does too. We're both quite opposed to the idea that we can be intimidated, so this is... kinda fucking hilarious tbh.
Anyway, that's all. Hope you have a chuckle. If they send anything back I'll pop an update up.
