Looks like there are at least three roster spots open going into training camp. The team could grant them all to the players on camp deals or they can upgrade one or more of the two-way contracts. At the moment, this is what the team looks like:

Roster Players:

  • Anfernee Simons - G - 1
  • Shaedon Sharpe - G - 17
  • Scoot Henderson - G - 00
  • Malcolm Brogdon - G - 13 (Casey announced 92)
  • Matisse Thybulle - G/F - 4
  • Rayan Rupert - G/F - 72
  • Jerami Grant - F - 9
  • Jabari Walker - F - 34
  • Kris Murray - F - 8
  • Tuomani Camara - F - 33
  • Deandre Ayton - C - 2
  • Robert Williams III - C - 35

Two-Way Players:

  • Skylar Mays - G - 5
  • John Butler Jr - F/C - 21
  • Ibou Badji - C - 41

Training Camp Players (in one form of temporary contract or another):

  • Antoine Davis - G - 44
  • Malachi Smith - G - 18
  • Kevin Knox II - F - 11
  • Justin Manaya - F - 24

The Portland Trail Blazers are signing free agent center Duop Reath on a one-year deal, sources tell ESPN. Reath was a starter for the Australia in the World Cup and played for the Blazers' summer league team. He played at LSU and has had stops in Serbia and China.

Summer League and FIBA standout signs with the Blazers

Wasn't sure where to post this so I'll just share it with the ripcity gang. I used to use stanza.co which is what nba.com links to for adding season schedules to your calendar, but now that requires signing up and has weird ticket purchase ads in the events. Then I was using sportscalendar.net for a while, but it went down.

Eventually I figured out that Yahoo sports publishes a full season calendar at https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/por/ical.ics , and this is the same for every team page there, like if you add /ical.ics after https://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/teams/portland-timbers you get a subscription link to add to your calendar. Super convenient.

For me on iOS/macOS, you add a subscription calendar and paste the url with the .ics at the end.

Bonus, they also still publish their news feed to rss at https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/por/rss/

DJJ and our pick that we owed to the Bulls (still haven't conveyed) was what Neil Olshey traded for Larry Nance.

So far DJJ + McCollum + 1st round pick for Jeremi Grant.

“Recent media reports stated that Damian Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, called multiple NBA teams to warn them against trading for Lillard because Lillard’s only desired trade destination is Miami. Goodwin also made public comments indicating that Lillard would not fully perform the services called for under his player contract if traded to another team.

We interviewed Goodwin and Lillard and also spoke with several NBA teams to whom Goodwin spoke. Goodwin denied stating or indicating to any team that Lillard would refuse to play for them. Goodwin and Lillard affirmed to us that Lillard would fully perform the services called for under his player contract in any trade scenario. The relevant teams provided descriptions of their communications with Goodwin that were mostly, though not entirely, consistent with Goodwin’s statements to us.

We have advised Goodwin and Lillard that any future comments, made privately to teams or publicly, suggesting Lillard will not fully perform the services called for under his player contract in the event of a trade will subject Lillard to discipline by the NBA. We also have advised the Players Association that any similar comments by players or their agents will be subject to discipline going forward.”

JJ touches upon the consequences of the Supermax with regards to free agency, and how players signing the Supermax and asking to be traded will be more common in the future and the death of Free Agency.
