Different people are going to have priorities, probably coming from multiple unrelated considerations. This includes (but isn't limited to) travel costs, whether there are people/activities/events you can go to locally, safety, time constraints, convenience, etc., etc.

Safety might be a higher priority again because of Trump's actions right now, but in the past I remember hearing people express concerns about mass shootings or even just the widespread presence of guns in general.
