Donald Trump has suggested large numbers of Palestinians should leave Gaza to “just clean out” the whole strip, after ordering the US military to restart shipments of 2,000lb bombs to Israel.

The US president said he wanted Gaza residents to move to neighbouring nations, and that they could be displaced “temporarily or could be long-term”, after a phone call with Jordan’s King Abdullah on Saturday.

“I said to him: I’d love you to take on more because I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess. I’d like him to take people,” Trump said, when asked about the call.

He also suggested Egypt as a destination for Gaza residents, and said he would raise the issue with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Sunday.

Can you elaborate?

What about Trump's arrival / Biden's departure has enabled 900 aid trucks to start rolling into Gaza every day ?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The ceasefire? Before that, basically no aid was coming in.

You mean the pointless political charade to try and make trump look good as he proceeds to further enable and promote the genocide?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The genocide, at the moment, has entered a new phase without bombs or starvation. Let's be clear: the genocide didn't start on Oct 7th and it didn't end with the ceasefire. Israel has always been a genocidal entity. We are just in a less violent phase.

But even if this ceasefire is political it's hardly a "charade". It's a real ceasefire! It's really saving people's lives! Without it, I don't believe Gaza would have survived the winter - too much sickness and starvation. People are living right now who would otherwise be dead.

Until Trump actually does something the situation is better now than it was under Biden.

It's fascinating how the situation in Gaza is objectively better (for now), and you sound almost disappointed because it wasn't Joe Biden who achieved it. (And in fact, Joe kept the genocide going until the very last day of his presidency.)

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The ceasefire was agreed under Biden, before the inauguration... Biden is not good for Palestine, but Trump is not better.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Yeah, but it was pressure from Trump that achieved it, because when Israel told Biden to jump, he did as he was told.

Hence why he earned the moniker: Genocide Joe.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Pressure from Trump?? What reality do you live in lol

When Israel tells Trump to jump he says here are all the weapons I can give you and more. Biden sucks in this situation, Trump actually wants people to suffer so the Christian evangelicals stay happy

I 100% believe there's a side deal here that benefits Trump personally (because every decision he makes as POTUS will be, in part, to monetize it for himself), but grift is 100% preferable to continued genocide. It's not even a contest.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Yes that is true, we can agree on deals that personally benefit trump but like ... The genocide stopped? That news hasn't seemed to hit my news feeds. Seems a lot like Israel is still killing indiscriminately in the West Bank and Gaza. They just took a break from large bombs- but I keep seeing stories about snipers in Gaza killing Palestinians and in the West Bank they're destroying roads and infrastructure with bulldozers, so seems like business as usual from what I'm seeing.. this deal isn't even for a lasting ceasefire, so when the big news corps move to whatever absolutely insane things Trump does next, that deal will end and they'll continue to drop 2000lbs bombs on civilians that the US will provide.

Yes, pressure from Trump. Listen to Democracy Now from the 16th which covers this.

This ceasefire deal was the same one proposed by Biden in May of last year. Hamas agreed to it, but Netanyahu did not.

What changed? Trump put his foot down.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fascists love to align with fascists. But let's be honest here, Trump has no idea what his feet are doing

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

That's a weird saying, I don't stand with .ml on a damn thing and those folks LOVE to call me fash for countering their brain dead takes.

Them fascists use too much nitrous for my tastes.

I don't understand what you're on about tbh, you don't make sense

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

How is it possible that you believe trump (who wasn't in office and had no diplomatic team) achieved the ceasefire, when it was the Biden admin that had been negotiating it for months? The guy who just outright called for ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza, you think he's the reason they have a ceasefire? Please revisit your propaganda sources and find something more aligned with reality.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

It's literally on CNN & the Biden administration admitted Trump's convoy sealed the deal.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

How is it possible that you believe trump (who wasn’t in office and had no diplomatic team) achieved the ceasefire,

The Biden admin hasn't done anything except send WMD's when told.

That's it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Yeah, but it was pressure from Trump that achieved it

Yea sure, in 7 days Trump took a break from signing a shitload of exec. Orders on stage and threatening Greenland and Canada to pressure israel to do anything other than "clean out gaza".

You're disgusting. You're a genocide enabler and supporter.

Obvious propaganda is obvious. Maybe not to you I guess.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Why would a leftist Israeli newspaper promote Trumpian propaganda?
