Commerce secretary Howard Lutnick suggested this week that only "fraudsters" would complain about missing a monthly Social Security check, and that most people wouldn't mind if the government simply skipped a payment.

In my experience, seniors make great indirect protestors. My grandmother would be complaining non-stop to anyone within earshot. The times when she won't stop complaining about something work on my parents, at least.

Throw in the fact that many seniors would suddenly become financially dependent on family, and you're gonna have a lot of pissed off adults who're already financially struggling and now they have to pay for Grandma, Grandpa, Meemaw and Peepaw too.
