Tridi 3 Germinal an 233 de la Révolution, jour d'Asperge

I have been sloppy with posting this weekend: Friday, I killed Ishtar (RIP). The last shave was meh, and confirmed my mixed feeling about this soap. I loved the scent at the beginning, but then, we sort of fell out with each other, for several reasons.

This year I have been particularly undisciplined with soap purchases, and Friday, I got both MdC Absinthe and SV Tundra Artica. I was more intrigued by Absinthe, and so I tried it tonight. It was my first time with a MdC soap, and I don't think I have the base nailed (I could probably have hydrated it more). The scent feels very week to me (but then, it's hayfever season, so this might not tell you much.

They say:

Created in 2024 for the semi-century Martin De Candre , the razing soap " Absinthe " is inspired by the herbaceous freshness of the famous elixir of yesteryear. Green and invigorating notes , slightly lemony , recall the aromatic of hysope and lemon balm . The heart of the fragrance is marked by the aniseed and spicy of star anise , fennel and green anise . Your shaving becomes synonymous with a sweet and intoxicating freedom.

I got a slight lemon scent off the puck, and a mix of fennel and anise. When lathered, all I got was a slight scent of anise – which is very nice, though.

And although I should have added more water, the soap was extremely slick – way beyond any other soap I have tried recently. After all, a very promising first contact, and I'm looking forward to using it more.

Congrats on the kill! That's a very rare event for me.

Congrats on the kill!

I have half a tub of MdC Absinthe that I’ve used once so far. It’s very nice but gives me a bit of a toothpaste feeling. I need to spend more time with it before knowing how I really feel.
