MAGA has their own symbols now, conveniently leaving everything American without being accompanied by Trump on it bizarrely open for reclamation. One of the biggest opportunities I see for our moment is reclaiming American iconography, including the flag.

I'm about that, I think we'd all like to see our country's flag and not just think "oh look a racist"

It undoubtedly represents some horrific times in our history. But the beauty of it, imo, is that we can make it stand for anything we want. We do not have to let them define that for us, nor do we have to let the weight of the past make it unusable now. So yeah, I would very much like seeing people carry the flag, and the flag alone, alongside the protest signs.

The flag represents our federation: the stars represent 50 individual states with their own cultures and values, united together under one banner; the stripes represent the 13 colonies who banded together to free themselves from a tyrannical monarchy; red represents courage, white purity, and blue justice.

Reclaim the flag for those who actually respect and embody its values.

Quite literally, yes. But not everyone sees the 13 colonies as a good thing - and they have a point. Still, I think we can celebrate our shared ideals - as you said: federation, liberty, and justice for all. Not liberty for some, but libre for all. Sorry if this comes off a little hot, I do completely agree with you and I’m here for it.

Might actually be a good way to weed em out too. Since it's currently used as a symbol for assholery they use it as a signifier as well. Meaning you can easily put them once they inevitably start mouthing off to you about their beliefs
