Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Well that's just a philosophical question, isn't it?
All you really know is what you experience first hand. Everything else is hear-say and personal beliefs.
I had a period of time during Trump's first admin where I read an article about him, and then I'd go find the original source, whether it was one of Trump's tweets, or a video of the event, or whatever. I really did my best to be impartial. And every time, I'd find that the article was either telling a half-truth or outright lying.
I'm a lot busier these days, (just with a few minutes of downtime here and there, that's when I get on Lemmy), so I can't investigate every article I come across, I just don't have the time. Those that I do look into usually turn out to be more half-truths and lies.
My personal experience says that the news is not to be trusted.

You were reported for your insults, so I had to tell you to stop it. Likewise, I told them to also change their comment about doubting the poster's legitimacy. Them disagreeing doesn't make them a Nazi. If you can find evidence that they are a nazi, then I can act, until then, there's little I can do.
