I'd say December is gluttony and February is greed.
December has more holidays in it that have a feast component as part of the celebration. Now I do agree with you that November having Thanksgiving makes it pretty you know neck and neck for Americans but the rest of the world celebrates all of those other holidays that happen during the month of December while exclusively Americans celebrate Thanksgiving.
And while February yes used to be the month about showing your loved one that you loved them and fostering affection it is not very well known for actually being that where people will compare the expense or extravagance of their gifts or their outing or their date against other people's gifts, outings, and dates. "So-and-So spent $XXX on their partner, but you only spent $XXx on me!", you heard that sort of statement a lot on February 15th. Or as I like to call it, First discount chocolate day of the year.
