Cyclist here.
We love being able to get around without the risk of being murdered or permanently disfigured by people driving cars. We will intentionally go out of our way to ride on protected routes even if it means extending our travel times.
Drivers disagree. They demand that we ride in traffic where we will slow them down, make them angry, and make them want to murder us.
It's so weird to me that "drivers" and "cyclists" are presented sometimes like in your message as two different demographics. I guess in some places it is like that. But in my city, I drive to some things, bike to others, take transit to others. I want to be safe and keep others safe in each mode.
