In alot of US Westerns cowboys and such are seen wearing long sleeves, panchos etc.? Is this real or a movie trope? If its real would not most die or drop from heat stroke? (lemmy.world)

Just weighing in here with a suggestion toward comparative research: please refer to any number of historical civilizations that thrived in similar/worse conditions (deserts, etc.), and still do to this day. You'll find that coverage is paramount โ€” in both clothing and housing.
