I'm no conservative [I'm a LibSoc/Anarchist], but I can see why they wouldn't want to be on Lemmy. It's not the most open-minded group of people. As soon as someone thinks even slightly different in some small way, they're labeled a fascist or some other pejorative as a way to end the discussion and critical thinking process to exclude constructively contemplating what was said. People can't just have reasonable debates anymore. Insults are thrown and groupthink becomes more isolated and heightened within their own dogma. And their communities are brigaded regularly. It happens on their side too. The human race just seems fucked.

I’m no conservative…

And so I brace myself for the usual rightist dog whistles…

There it is.

If someone gets called a fascist here, it’s almost always because that person is meeting the definition of a fascist. We have a lot of different kinds of leftists here and a lot of lively and healthy debate. What you can’t get away with on Lemmy is being an awful person. If you advocate hate, oppression, authoritarianism, misinformation, injustice, etc you will be called out.

Unless you are spending time on ml or hexbear, but tankies are rightists who unironically claim they’re leftist. It’s best to avoid those places.

Good job on providing a perfect example of exactly what he's talking about.

Huh, a cogent rebuttal, examples of why they think the argument they are responding to is riddled with assumptions and the theard OP engaging in the behavior that is being complained about.

Seems like you should reread both comments.
