The Rules
Posts must be:
- Links to news stories from...
- ...credible sources, with...
- ...their original headlines, that...
- ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”
Please also avoid duplicates.
Comments and post content must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.

Uh, re-read the post. Political news stories aren't banned here, they just have to have headlines that read like they're from The Onion. Lots of political posts here haven't been Onion-like at all. That's what's against the rules.
Okay, so, Onion-like and Onion-esque content is okay, as long as it's not The Onion. Good to know. I always prefer to ask people in the know aside from just reading the rules. Rules are a bit reductive, and there are so many interpretations. Thanks. But I still don't know if personal stories with no outside source are allowed. Like, things you read in a newspaper or watch on local news. That kind of thing. I can't really provide sourcess for those, since the media doesn't usually provide a source. And is this place for English-only stories or can I post translated/untranslated sources? Because believe me, all media is a circus, not just the media in English. It's multicultural.
You should read the community info on the sidebar. In short, this is a humorous community that shares real news stories that seem like they could be from The Onion.
So posts should be actual links to news reports with their original headlines, but only news stories that are weird enough that they read like headlines from The Onion are appropriate.
The name "Not The Onion" is a joke, because the news stories here are supposed to be real but make you think you're reading satire.
That doesn't fully answer my question, but thanks anyway. I won't bother you with silly queries anymore. As I can now clearly see, this is serious business. Thank you once again, and may God have mercy on our souls.
