Metadata embedded in the video and analyzed by WIRED and independent video forensics experts shows that rather than being a direct export from the prison’s surveillance system, the footage was modified, likely using the professional editing tool Adobe Premiere Pro.

It’s both comforting and discouraging that they’re so inept.

Yeah. You’ve got people talking about quitting the DOJ because they’re used to the old world where people get in trouble for things. And then up on top there’s Donald Trump saying “RAPE IS THE BEST AND LET’S KILL ALL THE MEXICANS” and getting away with it.

I think it just doesn’t matter anymore. The video is fake and it’s going to be fine. I think the hope is that things will change and it’ll matter again in time for things to come back around and whiplash these specific people.
