The Environmental Protection Agency said Friday it is eliminating its research and development arm and reducing agency staff by thousands of employees.

The agency’s Office of Research and Development has long provided the scientific underpinnings for EPA’s mission to protect the environment and human health. The EPA said in May it would shift its scientific expertise and research efforts to program offices that focus on major issues like air and water.

This is acutally terrifying - the ORD has been the backbone of evidence-based environmental policy since the 70s and without it we're basically flying blind on everything from air quality standards to emerging contaminants like PFAS.

while this doesn't directly relate to what RFK is doing at HHS, the juxtaposition just highlights how big of a hypocritical shitheel he is (and, by extension, Trump). He spent a good chunk of his career doing decent environmental protection legal work, but completely sold out to Trump so he could go on his health pseudosciece crusade.

"Let's remove fluoride from water! Let's require impossible double blind trials for flu vaccines! Let's ban red food dye! These chemicals are dangerous and need to be held to the highest possible scrutiny!"
