Fourier made similar discoveries a few decades before - at least in terms of co2's climate warming potential.

But yeah, women have been written out of the history of scientific discovery so Eunice Foote should be recognised. Joseph Tyndall also made similar discoveries at the same time. People do independently arrive at the same conclusions.

Especially in a time where communication was sparse and took a while. So many women have been an important part of science, many were probably never even documented.

He postulated the greenhouse effect but I think it was warming air not CO2 that he was musing about. Foote seems to be the first to link CO2.
