An immediate google search says that the US generates 4 cubic metres of waste annually. It's not even that much 🤷

True, though the amount produced is less of a concern than the amount of space and storage requirements necessary to make sure we don't accidentally irradiate things we care about.

That's because of over-the-top safety concerns, burying it underground is fine :)
