More likely they are expecting this to blow over and people to return to reddit. This isn't the first-time people have called for a mass exodus and they are expecting it to go like it has before.

Spez is looking to buy a tavern to rename it the Winchester. That way he can go down to the Winchester and have a pint and wait for this to blow over. And if Reddit's IPO forces him out for bad management, he can run the Winchester.
