For some reason it seems interesting that the charities these people involve with relate to their crimes.

It could be because their lawyers figuer it would help their case when they get caught, or there is a scam somewhere.

On the surface it is clearly misdirection or a fig leaf but Saville used his charity work to gain access to vulnerable people.

and the not so vulnerable; he was often seen laughing with peter sutcliffe as he had the keys to broadmoor

A lot of the inmates in Broadmoor were vulnerable, they just also happened to be deemed not fit to.mix with the rest of society. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
