If a firmware update fails on your Mach-E, you're stranded... There's no backup or emergency boot ROM to at least allow you to drive home.

This is pretty disappointing for a "premium" EV IMO, considering other devices like PCs and smartphones will automatically revert to the last working update if they fail to boot.

Most modern PC motherboards even have this feature implemented at a hardware level for the BIOS, where the previous firmware is restored from an independent "flashback" ROM if a startup failure is detected following an update.

In this video Louis is pretty frustrated about these poor engineering decisions being blamed on EV technology, rather than pointing the blame at the manufacturer's poor engineering decisions - as it allows the manufacturers to continually get away with making things worse, and not being held accountable.

Not sure what your point is...

if these products didn't sell well, we wouldn't see them on the rise.
perfect example of what I mean: I just got back from the gym, where there are several treadmills with touchscreens, loaded with complicated features most people would never even use. They take longer to get started and have more tedious controls. There is a single older treadmill that works great and can be started and stopped in a couple of seconds. Unless all of the treadmills are full, I rarely see anyone on the older one. I feel like I'm the only one who prefers it out of all the random gym-goers.

So yeah, doesn't have all that much to do with "who I hang out with". It's just an easily observed pattern in society.

Not sure what you want. I don't have a link, you are just rambling about experience too 🤷‍♂️

Just because a product exists, doesn't mean it's popular. Maybe the folks around you buy stupid shit. Maybe the folks around me do not buy dumb shit which is popular in droves. Who knows 🤷‍♂️
