So why does the President want to kill it?

Presumably a casualty of Republicans holding the budget hostage... again. It's something they can trim with minimal pushback.

Not like the guy personally hates x-rays or something. There's no sleazy lobbyist from Big Ultraviolet pushing a competitor.
