What is it always with the weird letters in some memes? I'm seeing the thing with this one "e" on memes for a few years now.

I've noticed that too! I wonder if it's some sort of watermark generated either by the meme generator program or by the website hosting the image. Anything I see on FB, for example, has these weird artifacts, or even entire words blanked out or garbled.
