I'm not religious at all (maybe a bit anti-theist) but when I saw local pastors shuttering their Methodist churches so they could rebrand as "independent" and continue spewing their hate; I knew the organization had to be doing something right.

there was some drama within the umc in recent years, the far-right congregations split off into their own thing. there's probably some still moving away from the 'too liberal' umc.
