Is there a particular book you'd recommend for someone wanting to try him out? Maybe a standalone one.

I read The Way of Kings earlier this year and loved it, but given the size and quantity of these books I doubt I'm going to be able to get on top on that series or any of his others in time for his latest releases xD

Waiting for series by other authors to complete makes a lot of sense. It's super frustrating following an author only for their quality to drop near the end.

I've heard great things about this series, but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be possible to buy them on Kobo? :(

That sounds like a fun series! I hadn't heard of LitRPG before but if I'm understanding correctly it's like an isekai where they're in an RPG with health bars and stuff?

Nowadays I don't really have any authors or book series like this. As I kid I used to get really excited for a new Series of Unfortunate Events or Alex Rider book. For a while I kept my eye on Adrian Tchaikovsky, but lately I've found some of his novels to be hit or miss.

The only book release I'm currently looking forward to is Brigands & Breadknives in the Legends & Lattes series by Travis Baldree. The other two books have been cosy and wholesome, and it's become a little tradition of mine to read these books around Christmas.

Oh that's neat. I occasionally use my controller on the Steam Deck and it's a pain having to re-pair the PS5 each time. Hopefully this system will be compatible with the Deck.

Oh neat! Hopefully it can live up to the book :)

This is the first book I've read by him, but I'd love to try out some of his others now. A colleague recommend Small Mercies and I've heard Mystic River is also very good.

Ahh thank you! This isn't one I'd heard of before so I appreciate you sharing it. The topic sounds fascinating, and definitely aligns with what I was looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion and link! I'll give it a read :)

I've always found the concept of wabi-sabi quite fascinating and I'd love to find out a bit more. Are there any books that explore this concept? Something quite approachable would be good.

Earlier today I finished Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. That was quite a ride! Some really beautiful descriptions of locations and characters, and the way he writes really keeps you on your toes. It's the first book I've read in a while which has kept me hooked until the end. Highly recommend.

A video from this channel popped up on my feed the other day. The topic seemed interesting, but after about the 3rd or 4th point something felt off. He constantly uses similes to draw very odd comparisons. The phrase 'it's like' comes up very often. This is exactly how I've seen LLMs talk.

Is it just me, or am I right about this? No one in the youtube comments seems to have mentioned it.
