!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I'm trying to stop using Reddit, but it having an app I know about makes it have quite an advantage.

I know there's a few apps out there I can use to browse Lemmy, but I'm not sure about their names and the different features they offer.

Until Sync for Lemmy comes out, I've been using the chrome Web app via Chrome browser.

Currently using Jerboa. I want simplicity and no clutter. It would be nice if there was a "collapse all" for comments. And would like to be able to double-click an image and have it zoom in.

I use Thunder. Actively being developed, tons of new features coming every few days. I get an update almost every day. Works great, looks great.

Link? Not seeing it in the play store. I'm always nervous just googling an Android app without knowing I'm installing the right version from the right site

I downloaded connect for lemmy yesterday just to see, and although it won't let me sign in unless I give it my email instead of username. (ive been SOL if an instance doesn't require an email, but maybe it works on someone elses) i think I'm liking connect better than jerboa though. For me it's been less glitchy, and it easier to access content.

There is Thunder: https://github.com/hjiangsu/thunder. You can upvote/downvote, reply and whatnot by doing side-swipes. Pretty neat.

Liftoff is amazing and the two main developers for it have been very active with updates and changes since they forked it from the old Lemmur project.

wefwef is a very slick web-app which follows iOS design guidelines that I also enjoy using. It's easy to install via Safari/Chrome/Firefox on both iOS and Android.

Another list I got from a similar post on r/RedditAlternatives. I personally used Slide for reddit, so I'm excited about getting something similar for Lemmy. For now, I got Jerboa from the play store and am enjoying it.

Another satisfied Connect user here, at least for the time being. It needs polishing, but it seems to just work.

Jerboa has a very nice UI, but it's still super buggy. If you're fine with using the web interface, I'd recommend that for now.

i'm using thunder

Huge fan of Thunder - it's still in alpha so it's missing features, but it's slick as heck and the developer is crunching out great updates already based on feedback on the GitHub page/their community page! Using Jerboa mostly for now, but likely will be using Thunder as my main in a few weeks :)

I've tried that one but I'm not a fan of the swipe to engage because I'm cack handed and keep accidentally up- or down-voating or bringing up the reply box as I scroll. I know other people like that interface though.

Seven Android apps for lemmy are listed here (disclaimer: I haven't tried any yet)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I am currently using Liftoff, because:

  • Wefwef and Mlem seems nice, but only for iOS
  • Lemmur is almost completely unusable, as you can't even add your account from an instance into it (And funnily enough, Liftoff seems to be a better fork of Lemmur)
  • Jerboa is nice, but lemmy.world (the place where I registered my first Lemmy account) isn't on version 0.18 yet, so I have to abandoned that option as well. I think I may go back to Jerboa, since I have accounts on multiple instances now, but for now I will still use Liftoff as my main app for Lemmy surfing

Liftoff for Android is better than Lemmy imo having tried both, there are less annoying quirks.
