A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Lemmy.world rules.

Not sure where to start on Roman history?

Explanation: Of the 26 Emperors during the Crisis of the Third Century (it depends on how you count them), only 3 died of natural causes. 2 were of plague, which was a major contributor to the crisis. 1 (Carus) was literally struck by lightning while in his tent, giving him two places on this chart.

For bonus points, the 6 Emperors before the Crisis (Geta, Caracalla, Macrinus and his son, Elagabalus, and Alexander Severus) were all assassinated as well. An eventful century!

So 6 out of 26 were not assassinated? How does that explain the tiny chance?

3 out of 26 (or 32) were not assassinated. The actual chance is exaggerated.

Alright. But seeing that one of them actually got hit by lightning and that chance is much smaller makes it a bit odd :D

Plague and lightning are natural causes.
