Yes you heard that right. Leftists, known for their aggressive fight for your rights, are akshually worse than conservatives! What a smart comment.

Despite being fairly positive that I'll regret this, sure I'll add more details:

Hexbears are are known for fighting, that's for damn sure:-P. Though they are not leftists - they claim to be such, but their real (self-stated btw) purpose is to attack others. See e.g. this post - it has just... a LOT, including an admin lying to another admin, then getting caught and thereby having to step down.

In short, there is a reason why this instance has been defederated from by most large Lemmy instances. And Hexbears themselves know that, and have been thinking what to do about it for years now, including preemptively defederating from other instances before it can (or needs to) be done to them in turn. In fact, if you read the post mentioned in the previous paragraph, the hexbear admins even cite that as their reasoning behind shutting down those communities - although tbh it is getting confusing to follow, as so many users have been banned, then reinstated, then they said that the bannings were actually a joke of their very own alts, except not ALL were, and some were not brought back, and an admin stepped down, but many asked them to step back up, and an old mod came back and...

Anyway, I am not making this up, this is a real, known quantity on the Fediverse. Look into it.

I never said anything about conservatives, but fair point to bring them in due to the origin of this comic. However, I never said anything about "worse"? You added that all on your own. Fwiw, I don't believe that being a little bit toxic online is anywhere close to e.g. voting against the ability of people to have access to necessary medical care i.e. abortions. There may not be a difference in kind, but there is an ENORMOUS difference in degree, and in the opposite direction as the words you were trying to put into my mouth.

Anyway, I suppose that we shall have to... ahem, ready for it? here it comes... any moment now... and... here it is... "agree to disagree" on this topic, eh? :-P And feel free to block me if you don't like seeing my content - my purpose in being on the Fediverse is to chat & have fun, but I have no desire to cause you pain, especially in these tumultuous times.

A while ago there was an interview on the radio with this guy who was complaining no women would date him because he was pro life. He was whining about how it was just politics and politics were like the least important thing in the world and we should all get along but he was still gonna vote for trump

Let me guess, this is another idiotic stab at centrists? "I can't see shades of gray so anything is between is wrong!"

it's an illustration of what it's like to have a conservative "friend" whose disagreement with you is your right to exist.

That makes more sense 👍

It's a response to a meme going around of a white guy holding up a sign with the text "We can disagree and still be friends." People are pointing out that the moment Trump got elected the two main right wing "jokes" that happened were school girls being told "your body my choice" and black people being sent anonymous texts telling them plantations were about to kidnap them for cotton picking.

Thanks for the context. Really wasn't following memes or the news.

“Or the news” yes, that much was obvious.

Hey, you’re the one not reading the news and then bitching about people not getting “nuance”.
