Moreover, it's her instance, and she can do whatever she wants with it.

Its users are free to leave whenever they wish, but I doubt many will as a result of this bc (a) Ada is awesome, and (b) the comments look strongly in her favor. Also (c) Ava's policies are clearly explained at the outset, and firmly and fairly applied.

Our approval outside of the situation does not matter in the slightest:-).

(~~That said, if it did, I would want to see some additional context, bc wine that phrase can be used as a dog whistle, I believe it may also be legitimate as well. I would strongly hope that the additional context in this case provided the justification that I can't fully see here. Which knowing Ada, seems highly likely.~~ Edit: if this comment really is it, then nvm, I get it. Tbf that really does seem like a discussion that needs to be had among centrists, but I can totally see why Blåhaj doesn't want to federate that content and thereby host it on its own servers. So without prejudicial judgement either for or against the original comment, I definitely support Ada's call here. As I always end up doing when I dig deeply enough to see what's going on in each situation. I am not saying that I would have done it - perhaps a community block or other reduced feature could have been applied, but for her server, it's her right.)

You should have no problems based on skin color, I would guess.

What problems there are with skin colors usually go the other way, and more importantly tends to not involve foreigners, so the moment someone hears your accent they will realize that you are not part of their target demographic. For the most part, I think?

Obviously there is crime but this is the same as everywhere in the world, so I'm speaking here strictly of racial based ones.

I guess you are asking if people who are not white - being black or Hispanic or whatever - and who hate whities/crackers, would they do something like mug you? And the answer is yeah they could, but those who would do that are roughly equally likely to mug others of their own race as well.

There is also a possibility that they could want to mug you merely because you look different. But the same would be true for a non-white person who wears a noticeably different style of clothing or some such.

Crime here, like everywhere, is based on locality. You aren't wrong to have asked, obviously, but that is my answer is that specifically skin color based crimes are not something for you to worry about. Poor areas where crime happens, now THAT is what you want to worry about, regardless of how you look.

Not what you'd prefer to wear, but what you have to:-).

For me: as casual as I can possibly manage. In the past that has varied anywhere from shorts, up to button up shirts and slacks, or down to pajama type pants (combined with maybe a nicer shirt during a Zoom call:-).

But I'll probably have to dress up more in my next job, maybe, and I'm not really looking forward to it.:-(

Maybe a different religion, or especially political beliefs seems to be a big deal-breaker. Do you still find it worthwhile to keep them in your life?

I do. I have e.g. Christian Conservative friends, and Atheist Liberal ones, etc. I enjoy each one for what they are. I mean, nobody is perfect! (like me 😁)

I've done well over an hour before (one way), but it definitely takes planning so not anywhere close to casual. At that point, perhaps other transportation may be used to return. And/or even if a daily/weekly occurrence, it takes discipline to do things like leave on time and stay informed throughout the day to handle weather events, plus wearing certain clothing to handle sweat and sun and rain etc. Biking is definitely preferable to walking for that level of distance/time, though I've done both.

More routinely, and perhaps with little notice, maybe... 20 minutes? (one way) It's hard to say bc it depends on what stores are where, whether the purchases will fit comfortably into my bag, etc. But I'd leave at a moment's notice for such a trip if need be and the conditions are conducive to it.

What about you: what's your cutoff?

So... there's that, at least.

At least, it makes as much sense as anything else right about now...

Setting aside the obvious one of Florida, I would guess Ohio bc (gestures wildly around) it exists.

(I don't mean to suggest that these are necessarily true)
