1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I went for a haircut today. My usual barbershop has closed down, the owner retired, and the guy who did me went to another shop, that was closed today. So I went to a new place. I only asked for the usual, #4 buzz cut on the head and #3 on beard, but nobody else was in the place, and they ended doing everything they have: buzz cut, razor around the edges, hot towels, neck massage. Almost an hour in the chair.

Felt a little hustled, but it was not that much, and I did not say no to anything. I think it was a promo by the shop owner, they want me to come back. I will be in front of a lot of people next week, so does not hurt to look as good as possible, and I did enjoy it. Probably won't do it all the time, though.

My barber is a very old vet named Gary, who converted an old stage coach stable into the barbershop. He’s always got an old western or war movie on. The walls are plastered with pictures dating back to WW2. It always smells of cigarette smoke, and his haircuts honestly aren’t great. But I still go cause I love the atmosphere and story (smoke not so much)

I was so thrown off when I went to a place and they shampooed and massaged my head.

Having someone else shampoo your hair is unexpectedly awesome. I used to have a stylist/barber that had ice cold hands all the time. I would have her shampoo my hair sometimes, the hot water and her cold hands was chefs kiss.

Getting the deluxe cut doesnt really sit well in the dull mens club sub, but getting it and complaining about it every time will work fine.
