thought you guys would find this blog post from Brian Leiter today funny. he's a pretty good guy and a respected scholar so no shade on him, clearly just misinformed. i wonder if this is in some way downstream of the recent political drama around proton.

I think you may be missing his real point: he’s asking people to stop sending anonymous non-attributed emails, as he deletes those.

I do the same; it’s not a proton/gmail/etc. thing, it’s a “did you say who you are in the mail” thing. He then points out that most of these anonymous messages are coming from protonmail/gmail accounts.

He’s essentially saying he doesn’t want anonymous tips/feedback. Nothing to do with the delivery service.

I think its funny that he considers GMail "anonymous".

Dude probably uses AOL.

One of the board members has been posting very pro-Trump nonsense.

Damn, well maybe I won't get a subscription now. I was migrating everything off Microsoft.

Not only did he post that, his opinion was then posted with the official account on reddit. Supposedly a miscommuniction between him and the media team 🤷

Dude needs to update to the latest Moodle. Looks less like a Geocities inspired html abortion.

Some people are still stuck in the past. What can you do? 🤷 But if you're a registered student or faculty, you can send emails with the university's email, can't you?

emails

If you can't spell it, you're not an expert. And probably shouldn't be in Education as a provider.

Hell, I still use the original camel-cased convention that was used extensively in Web 1.0: eMail. Because that just makes a lot more sense to me. And it’s where a fair number of early names, like eBay, also came from.

Technically, all eMail sent out from domains that you do not personally own are “anonymous”, or can be set up to not give out anything regarding your actual identity.

Hell, my parents were scammed out of being paid (it was redirected) by someone using a webmail address that looked like it came from my mother. She doesn’t even use eMail…
