If you didn't have an O365 Subscription, they installed this fucking thing anyway as part of a system update, just in case you want it later!

ah, was that Copilot or was it Copilot? It's MS's favourite name right now for its bad LLM initiatlves

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

All Cop-ilots Are Bastards

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

Yeah it was Copilot, not Copilot. It certainly wasn't GitHub CoPilot™️, but it might have been the same Copilot they jammed into VS Code, Copilot™️ for VS Code®️.

@dgerard
There is one parachute in the cockpit?! Maybe don't boot the copilot at cruising altitude, though.

fuck (the) copilot

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (3 children)

@dgerard Or don't use Microsoft products? Just sayin'.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This is not helpful to anyone who needs to use Microsoft products for work or wants to use a particular software that's only available on Microsoft platforms or does not know how to use other vendor's alternatives proficiently or hell, just likes the Microsoft products for whatever reason, but finds the AI features objectionable.

I don't voluntarily use Microsoft products, but I don't think nagging is going to change the minds of those who do.

@bitofhope Many people don't even realize there *are* alternatives.

I use LibreOffice at home and work, and the rest of people at work I think the one they're using is called WPS Office. (They're mutually compatible so the fact I use something different doesn't matter much.)

Yet despite the many (mostly-compatible) options out there, people often don't know of them. So pointing it out is … nagging?

🤷‍♀️

I guess they're stuck if they don't even want to hear about alternatives. C'est la vie.

Or don't post asinine things? Just sayin'.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

it’s fucking magical how these weird fucks manage to be this aggressively arrogant about using libreoffice of all things. like, when your friends complain about how expensive streaming is do you sit there like 🙄🙄🙄 it’s not my fault you don’t want to hear about PBS

Contact the Slayer, a new hellmouth has opened. Wait...no...it's just a link to 2007 Slashdot.

this user is just too smart for us, we've freed him from this sub so he can find people as on the ball as himself to talk to

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Leading with "more people should consider these alternative options" would have sounded a lot less nagging and passive aggressive than "Or don’t use Microsoft products? Just sayin’". I'm not just tone policing, those are actually completely different sentences. People who don't know about the alternatives and read the latter don't learn about LibreOffice or WPS Office, they learn that apparently someone hates them for wanting to make a spreadsheet or a slideshow or whatever.

If you just want to be mean and condescending to people for using Microsoft products, feel free, but I'd really prefer if people didn't keep affirming negative stereotypes about free software users like myself.

@zdl @dgerard what's the thing most likely to deter normal people from trying Linux and why is fucking Linux Guys?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

@pikesley @dgerard Wrong on two of two fronts within two words. Amazing performance!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Congratulations on being the one trillionth person to recommend Linux

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago (2 children)

@blakestacey Which, of course, I didn't.

Because I don't use Linux.

But hey, go ahead and continue being wrong. I'm sure you're used to it by now.

you’ve got a lot of time to post awful shit online for a BSD user. shouldn’t you be putting out a server fire somewhere?

unless… oh, do you think Apple isn’t actively violating your privacy and slowly forcing more AI features into your OS? precious.
