AFAIK it's a "parody" account, right? It's verified though so what's the point of verification on Threads?

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Katie Notopoulos is a senior technology reporter for BuzzFeed News, so I assume that verification carried over from her Instagram account

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

That's...not something Buzzfeed should be caught dead saying, either, though. You're supposed to give your real name, but it makes way more sense for this to be a parody rather than someone who's about to be called into the office tomorrow. Not that either of those options make this more fun to read.

I don't know anything about Threads, but I'm guessing money gets you verified over there.

Is this real? Don’t want to get Threads to find out.

It’s a real post but the person is fake. There is no such thing as an “editor in chief of threads.” This is a user from Bluesky who is trolling Threads. She posted her threads on Bluesky earlier today.

Here is her profile on Bluesky.

Here's how we learn the difference between "real" and "true"

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why? Because it has a blue check mark? Have we learned nothing from Twitter? Every post in that account reads like a complete parody.

I’m going to refrain from eating the Onion here and assume anyone who uses the phrase “Nazi lifestyle” is absolutely trolling until proven otherwise.

I don’t know who the person is, but the Tweet or Thread or whatever is real.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

“If the person is real/who they say they are” is literally the only part that matters. Everything else about this is immediately rendered unimportant and uninteresting if this isn’t who they are purporting to be.

Oh, ok. Good to know.

I found it interesting that it hadn’t been deleted yet. Apparently that offended you. My bad.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

What...how...why?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

There’s enough to complain about without sensationalist bullshit sheesh

How are so many of you guys falling for this? For real lol.

I swear some of you look for things to be angry about.

A party with no standards. Hard pass.

Edit: looks like it is not a Threads employee. Whether that changes my opinion of the party's standards is open for debate.

Would be very on-character from Meta...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

But they never say the quiet part out loud.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

She’s a reporter for Buzzfeed.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

This cannot be real. Is it?
